ESSEX PB&R REACHES MILESTONE
100,000th EPOS Delivery to USAF

Essex PB&R is proud to announce delivery of our 100,000th EPOS (Emergency Passenger Oxygen System) to the United States Air Force. After extensively testing commercially available smoke hoods to meet their stringent protection guidelines, the USAF selected the Essex EPOS — the only passenger smoke hood to provide supplemental oxygen for altitude decompression in addition to smoke and fume protection. Essex EPOS can be found on-board all USAF passenger-carrying aircraft, as well as U.S. Navy and Coast Guard aircraft, military aircraft in Canada, Belgium, Australia and Singapore and many private corporate jets. The Essex EPOS has been saving military and civilian lives in smoke, toxic fume and decompression emergencies since its initial delivery in 1996.

UMR HPV TEAM
You Made Us Proud!

Human Powered Vehicles (HPVs) are aerodynamic, highly engineered vehicles that may be used on land, in water or the air. Some land-based HPVs have achieved speeds of over 60 miles per hour. Each year, college students from around the nation compete to design and build the best HPV. Essex Cryogenics is honored to have been a sponsor of the University of Missouri-Rolla’s 2002 HPV Team (pictured below) and they made us proud by winning First Place in the East Coast Division for their single rider design. The American Society of Mechanical Engineers sponsors the competition. Congratulations, Team!

“Being a part of the HPV team has given me a chance to put into practical application some of the things I’ve been learning in my years at school. Possibly the most valuable experience I’ve gained.”

— Ryan Besand, student, University of Missouri-Rolla HPV Team

Essex PB&R Training Seminar

In October, Essex PB&R held their first ever Distributor Training Seminar in St. Louis, Missouri. The event provided a forum for Essex PB&R distributors to receive detailed training on the complete product line, enabling them to offer a higher level of service to their — and our — customers. The seminar drew a capacity audience, with over 25 participants attending from distributorships around the country. Thanks to Scott Passalacqua and all the other Essex PB&R people whose hard work resulted in such a successful event.
