SX Performance Teams Up With Edelbrock
SX Performance, a division of Essex Industries Inc., is manufacturing a line of hot new products for Edelbrock Corporation, a maker of parts and accessories for high performance cars, trucks and motorcycles. The new line of fuel system components include: >> The 120 GPH Fuel Pump - for carbureted applications supporting up to 600 horsepower. The 120 GPH Fuel Pump has an integrated inlet screen filter, externally adjustable fuel pressure of 5 to 10 psi, aluminum billet with military black anodize and a low-noise carbon vane engineered and machined to a special shape that improves the flow of fluids. >> The 160 GPH Fuel Pump, supporting up to 900 horsepower, has all the features of the 120, but with an adjustment range of 10 to 20 psi. A regulator is required; the 160 GPH Regulator, below, is recommended. >> The 160 GPH Regulator is performance-tuned to match the 160 GPH pump. It comes with an integrated bracket sporting stainless steel hardware and has a pressure adjustment range of 5 to 10 psi. It can also be used with other systems. These features are over-and-above those of similar products currently on the market. Although pumps in this market range are typically considered to be disposable, motorsports enthusiasts will be able to enjoy years of performance with the Essex line because these new components have extremely low wear characteristics. Their added features and long life demonstrate that a high-performance fuel pump can be manufactured at a low cost.
Edelbrock Corporation has been in the aftermarket racing and performance industry for 65 years. Through Edelbrock's distribution channels, the new components will be available in racing shops, auto parts stores and other retail outlets. Edelbrock will also carry our prominent EFI line, including our new alcohol-compatible fuel pump and EFI regulators. Other components will be in development soon, including high-flow EFI fuel pumps, specialty fuel pressure regulators and nitrous oxide system components. "In the past several months, Essex has not only designed and built new automotive fuel systems for Edelbrock, we are also building relationships, friendships and another legacy product line for Essex," states Terry Etter, Vice President of Manufacturing Operations. "We went into production in the fall of 2003 and are now providing Edelbrock with a product offering they have sought for many years. "In recent meetings at Edelbrock, President and CEO Vic Edelbrock, Jr. thanked all of us at Essex for our hard work on the fuel systems components, and expressed the desire to continue working with us on new product development. Vic Jr. and his staff have many thoughts and ideas as to how the two companies can build our futures together. There is energy and excitement in both camps and together we can achieve great success," says Etter. back to top More Than Just a Smokehood Essex PB&R is pleased to announce a new and enhanced product, the VRU+ Smokehood, the newest in a line of self-contained protective breathing devices. The original VRU was designed for use by trained rescue personnel in assisting civilian victims in emergency escape or rescue situations. It can also be used by the rescue professional if he or she becomes trapped in circumstances where there is no source of clean air. It is effective against fire, smoke and toxic fumes. Unlike a filter mask, which must clean contaminated outside air to make it fit to breathe, the VRU+ provides its own source of pure, breathable oxygen.
The increased protection criteria for the new VRU+ were developed at the request of one of our customers within the U.S. Government. Due to new Homeland Defense issues, several federal agencies located in the DC beltline have chosen to provide employees with "escape hoods" in order to afford respiratory and visual protection in case of fire or biological attack-considered a higher risk than smoke and fire for some facilities. Emergency procedures must now include protection against CBRN agents such as sarin and mustard gas in addition to smoke, fire and toxic fumes. In order to meet the new criteria, the engineering staff of Essex PB&R designed and developed a new, specially coated neck seal that creates an impervious barrier against these chemical weapons. The new VRU+ exceeds product qualification requirements specified by SBCCOM (United States Army Soldier Biological Chemical Command). SBCCOM is recognized as the nation's highest authority for testing and evaluating chemical and biological protective equipment. With the VRU+, Essex PB&R is able to offer Federal Managers a unit that provides protection for employees regardless of the nature of the threat. The VRU+ has been sold to numerous government agencies such as the U.S. Court of Appeals, the Department of the Treasury, the Secret Service and members of the Pentagon. There are plans to eventually expand sales of the VRU+ to first response and force protection agencies dispatched to the scene in the aftermath of an emergency or attack. Congratulations to all of the folks at Essex PB&R whose hard work resulted in the VRU+. This excellent product creates many new sales opportunities, and more importantly, enables us to protect and serve our clients even better than before. back to top |
