ESSEX NAMES TIM BANNISTER VP OF OPERATIONS AT CRYO Our congratulations to Tim Bannister, who is the new Vice-President of Operations at Essex Cryogenics, an operating division of Essex Industries. Bannister and over forty other candidates were reviewed under Essex’ new and comprehensive Succession Management and Talent Review Program, which uses a common performance assessment process to identify and develop key management talent. “I have watched Tim grow to become a great leader. We are a company of great leaders and Tim is the promise of next-generation thinking that benefits everyone: employees and customers alike,” said Keith Guller, CEO and COO of Essex Industries.
Bannister earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Voluntary Agency Administration from Missouri Valley College, Marshall, Missouri, in 1979. He then became a counselor for troubled teenagers through the Office of Drug Abuse Prevention (ODAP), Department of Human Resources at the St. Louis County Government Center. In 1981, Tim began his manufacturing career with an entry-level position at Southwest Truck Body. In 1983, he joined Carr Lane Manufacturing as Director of Materials. In 1985, Tim took on a new position at Engineered Air Systems as the Manager of Subcontracts, later to become the Field Operations Manager. In 1989, Bannister became Sales Manager of Davlan Engineering where he became aware of Essex Industries, which was a client of Davlan. In 1999, Tim became Sales Manager at Essex Cryogenics. Bannister began an aggressive search for new business opportunities in order to move Cryo into new and growing markets. The liquid oxygen technologies at Essex were nearing the end of their use curve in military aircraft and Cryo needed new products to build. As a result of Tim’s efforts, Cryo grew from a 65-man shop in 1999 to a team of over 110 in 2003, nearly doubling its gross sales. In December of 2003, Tim was promoted to Director of Sales at Essex Cryogenics, where he pursued aerospace-and defense-related new business opportunities in the United States and abroad. New projects included major subcontracting opportunities with the Lockheed Martin Joint Strike Fighter, Boeing’s C-17 Aircraft and various medical oxygen system programs. Bannister is now responsible for all aspects of the Cryo facility and for the company’s profit & loss. He manages a staff of seven managers and is currently developing a strategic growth plan for Essex Cryogenics. We are deeply appreciative of Tim’s contributions. |
